How to make your business stand out online.

Most small businesses lose customers online for the same few reasons. Here is what actually matters, in the order we would fix it.

  1. Own your address

A page on someone else's platform can change, charge more or disappear. Your own domain is the one address you control, and every link and review you earn builds on it.

  2. Say what you do and where

Put your service and your area in your page title and main heading. "Bike service in Christchurch" beats "Welcome". It is the biggest thing most sites get wrong.

  3. Keep your details the same everywhere

Name, address, phone and hours should match on your site, your Google profile and every directory. Search engines and AI tools trust details that agree.

  4. Look after your Google Business Profile

It is often the first thing people see. Fill it in fully, add real photos, keep your hours current and reply to reviews.

  5. Answer the questions people ask

Prices, parking, how long it takes, whether you take walk-ins. Write the answers on your site. Customers decide faster, and AI search can quote you.

  6. Be fast on a phone

Most visits are on a phone, often on mobile data. A page that takes more than a few seconds loses people before they see it.

  7. Make the next step obvious

A clear button to book, call or order on every page. Every extra tap loses someone.

  8. Ask for reviews, and show them

Recent, real reviews persuade more than anything you can write. Ask happy customers, and put your rating where visitors can see it.
